I guess the more accurate question would be...

What kind of an artist do you want to be perceived as by others?

This is something that I've been having a minor struggle with ever since I joined DA/began to draw again with more effort. (Haha.) I'm sure it is partially due to the fact that I care too much about what other people think of me and me as an artist. ^^; But anyway...

In my past DA account many years back, I enjoyed drawing Sonic the Hedgehog things and made a lot of Sonic OCs. Even today, I still enjoy and appreciate other artists' Sonic drawings and their OCs. But there was a point in my life when I wanted to derive my OCs away from the Sonic universe and Sonic style in terms of character design. There's nothing wrong with Sonic, but I wanted to make my characters my own--I guess? Those were my thoughts towards the end of my high school years. :3 Fast-forward some years. I started to draw more often because I had more time to invest in my hobbies. And I wanted to revive my beloved OCs from the dead. -v-

I enjoy drawing anthropomorphic animals, but knowing that "anthros" or "furries" had a bad reputation among the general population (not so much on DA since there's a huge community of anthro artists, so I feel like it doesn't apply as much here haha;; )... Honestly, I didn't want to associate myself with that image. Especially having some RL friends who even think that being associated with anime is a social-nono. Though that is another topic entirely on its own. xD;;
SO, I tried to change my style--I guess you can say. ;v;
(Though that's difficult for anyone to really determine since you haven't seen my past arts.)

I tried to draw more cutesy and animal-like...

I tried my best to stay away from the more human-like proportions and things of that sort that is common in most anthro arts. ;v;
But even during my initial sketches, many times they would turn out more human-like and I'd have to "cut down" on my character's body proportion and limbs... QvQ...
I don't know.
After a lot of thinking, I decided that I shouldn't care so much about how others perceive me. YwY
Whether they're online or IRL. Or if they think I'm weird for drawing furries...

I'M GOING TO DRAW WHAT I LIKE. AND HOW I LIKE TO. Llama Emoji-66 (Orly) [V3]

Cause ultimately, you should be drawing for yourself. And no one else. <3

Okay, end of rant. Llama Emoji-23 (Shyness) [V1]

I don't know if anyone would have read this far or at all... But if that's you......

I do understand how you feel! I too have been judged by real life friends and have been questioned if I was a "furry" as well. The word "furry" and "anthro" has become extremely disfigured to the point that even we as innocent artists don't want to use. However, I am  extremely glad that you will draw how you like, bECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT!Hug KEEP DRAWING FLUFFY ANIMALS OF ALL SORTS
